Monaco first got into the mainstream via TextMate. Envy Code R is used in Visual Studio. And here I am, using them in Emacs on my Linux box.
Monaco [for Linux] lacks of support for bold face, and Envy contains few international characters. But as I told you, they are for programming and for that job, they do their best.
